Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data is processed when you use the MailRelic desktop application, visit this website, buy MailRelic Personal or contact support.
Last updated 22 September 2026. Applies to MailRelic 1.0.0.
In short
- MailRelic processes your PST files on your computer. It does not upload your archive, messages, attachments or exported files to us or to anyone else.
- MailRelic is not an entirely offline application. MailRelic Personal licences are activated, checked and deactivated over the internet with Lemon Squeezy.
- The application contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising or automatic crash reporting, and it does not check for updates.
- Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for purchases. We never receive your card details.
- This website has no analytics or advertising trackers and does not set cookies of its own.
1. Who we are
MailRelic is developed and operated by Ante Tomić, Croatia ("we", "us"). Ante Tomić is the controller for the processing of personal data described in this policy, except where this policy says that another company decides how it handles data itself.

2. The MailRelic desktop application
MailRelic is a Windows application for opening, reading, searching and exporting Outlook PST files. The free application does not need an account and does not ask for your name or email address.
The application contains no analytics, usage tracking, telemetry, advertising or automatic crash or error reporting, and it does not check for updates. It does not write a log file during normal use.
Files the application keeps on your computer
- Search index. While an archive is open, MailRelic keeps a search index of it, including message text, in your Windows user profile. The index is deleted when you close the archive or quit. If the application stops unexpectedly, the index is deleted the next time it starts.
- Settings. A random installation identifier and a count of how many times the application has been started. They stay on your computer and are not sent anywhere.
- Licence. On a computer where MailRelic Personal is activated, the licence details described in section 4.
Uninstalling MailRelic does not remove the settings and licence. To remove them, delete
the folder %APPDATA%\app.mailarchive.viewer.
Links, images and purchase buttons
Images inside email that would load from the internet are blocked, so opening a message does not contact the sender's servers. If you choose a link inside an email, MailRelic asks first and then opens the link in your web browser or email program. A purchase button in the application opens this website's purchase page in your web browser. What happens in your browser is covered by the privacy terms of the site you visit.
Microsoft Edge WebView2
MailRelic displays its interface with Microsoft Edge WebView2, a Windows component that Microsoft provides and updates separately from MailRelic. If WebView2 is not already installed, the MailRelic installer downloads it from Microsoft. Microsoft's handling of that download and of WebView2 is covered by Microsoft's own privacy statement.
3. Local archive processing
MailRelic reads the PST files you choose, on your computer. When you open, browse, read, search or export an archive, MailRelic does not upload the PST file, its messages, its attachments, its file name, its folder names, your search terms or the files you export, to us or to anyone else. None of this is included in licence requests.
MailRelic opens the source PST read-only and is designed not to change it. Exports and saved attachments are written only to locations you choose.
We cannot see your archives or your exports. Their content stays on your computer and under your control.
4. Licensing
The free edition makes no licence connections. When you use MailRelic Personal, the application connects to Lemon Squeezy's licence service over an encrypted connection:
| When | What is sent |
|---|---|
| You activate a licence | Your licence key, and a device label made of the word "MailRelic" and random characters. MailRelic generates this label; it is not your computer's name and is not derived from your hardware or your Windows account. |
| About once a month, in the background | Your licence key and the identifier of the activation, to confirm that the licence is still valid. |
| You deactivate a device | Your licence key and the identifier of the activation. |
Like any internet request, these requests reach Lemon Squeezy with your IP address and basic technical information about the connection.
After activation, the application stores on your computer the licence key, the activation identifier and device label, and the licence details and dates it needs to check the licence later. This is stored in your Windows user profile. MailRelic uses Windows Data Protection (DPAPI) to protect this licence information for your Windows user account where available; if Windows cannot provide that protection, the licence information is stored in the same place without it. No name, email address or order number is stored. Deactivating the device removes this licence information from that computer.
In our Lemon Squeezy account we can see which activations a licence has, including their device labels.
5. Purchases and Lemon Squeezy
MailRelic Personal is sold by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy sells the licence to you, processes the payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT that applies, and issues the receipt and the licence key. For the checkout and the customer data it collects there, Lemon Squeezy decides how it handles that data itself, under its own privacy policy and buyer terms.
Your card or other payment details never reach us. Lemon Squeezy makes order information available to us, such as your name, email address, country, what you bought, the amount paid, and the licence key and its activations. We use it to deliver and support your licence, to handle refunds and to answer questions about your order. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell it.
6. Website and infrastructure
mailrelic.com is a static website. It has no analytics, advertising trackers or social media plugins, no accounts and no contact form. It does not set cookies of its own or store anything in your browser.
The website and the installer downloads are delivered by Cloudflare. Like any hosting service, Cloudflare processes technical request data, such as your IP address, the address requested, browser information and the time of the request, to deliver the website and protect it from abuse.
When you point at, focus or tap a purchase button, or open the purchase page, the website loads a small script from Lemon Squeezy so that the checkout can open quickly. Loading it sends Lemon Squeezy your IP address and standard browser information. The checkout itself is shown by Lemon Squeezy, either in a window on top of this website or on Lemon Squeezy's own checkout page, and is covered by Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
7. Support communications
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, your name as it appears in your email, your message and anything you attach. We use this to answer you and, if your message is about a purchase, to find your order in Lemon Squeezy.
Support does not need your PST file to help. Please do not send PST files, complete email archives or sensitive email content unless it is genuinely necessary and we have asked for it. MailRelic never sends us archive content by itself.
8. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases under Article 6:
- Activating, checking and deactivating a licence, and applying the limit of 3 devices that is part of the licence: performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b).
- Preventing a licence from being used beyond its terms: legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f). The interest is protecting a paid product from misuse, and it is pursued through the activation count.
- Using order information to support your licence and handle refunds: performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b).
- Answering support messages: performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b), where the message concerns a licence you bought; otherwise legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f), the interest being answering questions about our software.
- Delivering this website and keeping it secure: legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f).
- Keeping records or responding to requests where the law requires it: legal obligation, Article 6(1)(c).
We do not rely on consent for any of this. There is no marketing, no profiling and no automated decision-making.
You are not legally required to give us any personal data. The free application needs nothing from you. A licence cannot be activated without its licence key.
9. Service providers, recipients and international transfers
- Lemon Squeezy sells MailRelic Personal as merchant of record and provides the licence service the application uses for activation, checks and deactivation. As merchant of record, it decides how it handles checkout and customer data under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers this website and the installer downloads.
- Our email service provider receives and stores support email.
- Microsoft provides the WebView2 runtime, which the installer downloads from Microsoft if it is missing.
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with advertisers.
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Lemon Squeezy states in its privacy policy that the information it collects is stored or processed in the United States or wherever it and its partners maintain facilities, and that transfers out of the EEA are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard data protection clauses approved by the European Commission. Cloudflare operates a global network, so a request to this website may be handled outside the EEA; such transfers rely on the safeguards in Cloudflare's data processing terms.
10. Data retention
- On your computer: the search index is deleted when you close the archive or quit. Settings and licence information stay until you deactivate the licence or delete the application's folder.
- Order and licence records are held by Lemon Squeezy. How long it keeps them is set by Lemon Squeezy and described in its privacy policy.
- Support email is kept for as long as reasonably needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
- Website request data is processed by Cloudflare under its own retention practices. We do not keep separate website logs.
11. Your privacy rights
Where the GDPR applies, you can ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or erased. You can also ask us to restrict its use, ask for a copy in a portable format, and object to processing that is based on legitimate interests. Write to [email protected]. We may need to confirm that a request comes from you, for example by replying to the email address used for the purchase.
Most order data is held by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. We will pass your request on where it concerns that data, and you can also contact Lemon Squeezy directly as described in its privacy policy.
If you believe your personal data has been handled unlawfully, you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work or where the issue happened. In Croatia, this is the Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka (AZOP), azop.hr.
12. Security
MailRelic does not send archive content anywhere, so it is not exposed to the network by MailRelic. Licence requests use encrypted connections, and MailRelic uses Windows Data Protection to protect the stored licence where available. Remote content in email is blocked.
Exported files are ordinary files on your computer, so protect them as you would any copy of your email. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
13. Children
MailRelic is a tool for working with email archives. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
14. Changes to this policy
If the application or this website starts processing personal data in a way this policy does not describe, we will update this policy before that change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
15. Contact
Questions about this policy or your personal data: [email protected]. The terms for using MailRelic are in the Terms of Use.
